Home Decor from the Studio
Several years ago my interests in photography, printmaking, textiles and art history culminated in a series of prints on silk.  A further interest in “making spaces” or interior design led me to making works of art that are functional – riding that line between artistry and artisanship – and a small business was born.  Sometime this past summer I realized I really wasn’t that interested in the pursuit of marketing, pr and sales and have returned to the studio to rediscover why I headed down this path in the first place. On this page I will post links to the work that interests me currently, one of a kind and limited editions for the most part.  Many of the most sought after designs I have created over the last several years may be found in the archives pages.   When you see something you want to talk about, give me a call or send me an email! I will probably be in the studio! Katherine

New Directions

These pieces are obviously strongly connected to the “Pompeii Collection” and come from the same body of imagery.  As I dig deeper into this source material I am more absorbed with the abstractions, the coral reef changeabilty of color with the shifting of the light and a certain deconstructivism emerging from my affinity to the aging of the original murals.

Pompeii

Haunting the great museums I have discovered the damaged murals of Pompeii and Herculaneum.  In deconstructing my photographs and building these images, I have reveled in the processes of layering and aging and connected to a continuum that reaches between art and the natural world, reality and abstraction, history and being in the moment,
